Tegan & Sara Open For Katy Perry

I can't believe Tegan and Sara just celebrated their 34th birthday.  It makes me feel really old.  I truly love these girls and have followed them for years.  I didn't expect this but they did were the opening act for Katy Perry this past Friday.  I remember watching these girls years ago in small venues surround by lesbians.  It is pretty crazy seeing how far they have come into the main stream market.

Katy Perry on her Girl Crush

On the November issue of W Magazine Katy Perry discussed her first song, 'I Kissed a Girl'.   I used to hate the interviews she gave when the song first came out but this one seems a bit more respectful.  Here's what she had to say about her first girl crush (she will finally admit she ever had one):

She was that friend, the one that you idolize and maybe even have a weird obsession-slash-crush on. We were standing on her bed, wearing her clothes — because her clothes were cooler — and she put on “Killer Queen.” My world froze. It was a very cinematic feeling, and it opened up this lyrical world.

Katy Perry - Unconditionally

Katy Perry has not always been my favourite person and a lot of queers would agree with me.  She has won me over with her video for Unconditionally or I should say the women in the video won me over.   I have developed my new crush of the day.

Rihanna and Katy Friends?

Rumours have been swirling that Katy Perry and Rihanna are more than friends.  If they don't want anyone to know, pictures like this are not going to help.  Fingers crossed they are dating!

Kristin Stewart Female Fling?

I know the source is sketchy but the new gay rumour is that while Robert Patinson's been away filming in Australia, his girl Kristin Stewart was frolicking with Katy Perry's assistant Tamra Natisin.  I've sworn for years that Kristin is a lesbian so I really would not be surprised.

Ester Dean Plays Lesbian in Pitch Perfect

This is the first I have ever heard of Ester Dean but by the sounds of it she is incredibly talented.  She has been behind the scenes writing music for stars like Rihanna, Nicki Minaj and Katy Perry.  Her latest endeavor is playing a lesbian in the new movie called Pitch Perfect.

Katy Perry Visits Neil Patrick Harris

Katy Perry will be making a visit to the show How I Met Your Mother. She plays a naive cousin who is ditsy and this must have been the easiest role for her. Although I don't know how she'll be able to work her breasts into the show like she does in every other thing she does. I have faith she won't let me down.

Shears & Lambert Make Out

I think these Scissor Sisters News Casts keep getting better and better. In the this last installment Adam Lambert gets 'caught' making out with lead singer Jake Shears. For some reason Katy Perry is watching and the interview with Lambert is hilarious.

The California Gays Peacock

The California gays have a love on for Katy Perry. The last video they did was for California Gurls. This time they are gaying up her song peacock.

Katy Perry Is An Idiot

I know this isn't exactly gay related but Katy Perry is such an idiot that I think this deserves a place on the blog. Especially since she has recently been slamming gay icons like Madonna and Lady Gaga. Her last verbal vomit:

It does not matter if its Madonna or my boyfriend doing it - if you put sexuality and religion in the same bottle and try to shake it up, its not cool.

The religious singer turned pop queen has brought us such wonderful hits as 'I kissed a Girl' (not sexual at all) and the visual assault in 'California Girls'. I'm finding this a wee bit hard to swallow. She expects people to take her serious when she attaches whip cream cans to her breasts and shoots them off during her video. I think she's just jealous of women who actually have talent.

California Gays Music Video

I love these gays take on Katy Perry's California Girls. It's amazing how a low budget video blows that candy land shit out of the water. By the way Katy says she loves the video saying it was hysterical. I don't really care.

Katy Perry Blasts Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga may have impressed many fans with her "Alejandro" video, but Katy Perry dosen't appear to be one of them. She released a tweet which says, "Using blasphemy as entertainment is as cheap as a comedian telling a fart joke." I guess she doesn't like the fact that Lady Gaga wears a latex nun outfit and pretends to fuck her dancers with crosses painted on her body. Considering Katy used to be a religous singer and made it big with "I kissed a girl", she needs to have a reality check. I would also like to point out in her new video for "California Girls" she dances in a world made of ice cream and candy, and ice cream shoots from her bra. Real classy.

Scarlett's Lips Inspired Katy's Singing?

Apparently Scarlett Johansson's lips inspired Katy Perry's song "I Kissed a Girl". Not that Scarlett really seems to care. People says:

When told that her lips inspired Katy Perry to pen her hit "I Kissed A Girl," Johansson, who recently married Ryan Reynolds, tells December's Allure, "That's flattering, but my lips are kind of taken."

In fact, until Perry's melody was pointed out to her, "I had no idea [about the song]," says Johansson, 24. "I should get a cut!"

I don't really know why, but I find her response really annoying. The fact that Perry's song was actually inspired by something to do with women pleases me immensely, but Scarlett's response is just a bit irritating for some reason. It seems to have one of those (fine, be attracted, but remember, I'm not gay and you can never have me" sort of intonations. Or maybe I'm just crabby. Yeah, I think I'm just crabby. I still think she's hot, though.

Twirlers in Trouble

I thought baton twirling was a pretty gay thing, but Texas doesn't think so and wants to make sure that it stays as hetero as can be. Three girls in Van Texas were suspended from twirling at a couple of football games after performing a routine to Katy Perry's "I Kissed a Girl" at a pep rally, which school officials said broke the rules of conduct. Some news footage and the rest of the story here.

I don't even know what to say about this. Even baton twirlers can't be gay these days. Or at least not in Texas. Maybe I should start the gay twirling team...

Katy Perry's Parents Suck, Too

Katy Perry's religious parents are unsurprisingly upset about "I Kissed a Girl" and her mother released the following statement to prove that she is, in fact, a closed-minded idiot:

I hate the song. It clearly promotes homosexuality and its message is shameful and disgusting. Katy knows how I feel. We are a very outspoken family and she knows how disappointed her father and I are. I can’t even listen to that song. The first time I heard it I was in total shock. When it comes on the radio I bow my head and pray … Katy is our daughter and we love her but we strongly disagree with how she is conducting herself at the moment. We cannot cut her out of our lives as she is our child but she knows we disagree strongly with what she is doing and the message she is promoting regarding homosexuality which the Bible clearly states is a sin. But the Bible also promotes understanding and forgiveness, which I keep reminding myself. Katy is not a homosexual but I fear she has been led astray by the Hollywood crowd. I pray all the time that God will work through her and help her find salvation.

Katy's response was simply that she "stopped trying to change them at 21," which is probably the best thing she could possibly say. I, however, can say anything I want to, including that the idea that pop songs cause homosexuality makes me giggle with pleasure. Sometimes I sincerely wish that all the things the crazy folk claim "encourage" homosexuality really did. Do you know how easy life would be?

me: hey, you're cute. want to come home with me?

cute straight girl: no thanks, I'm straight.

me: really? Because have you heard this new pop song? *plays song*

cute formerly straight girl: Wow, that's a really good song. I guess I'll come home with you after all.

Katy Perry Kisses a Girl Again

Katy Perry performed "I Kissed a Girl" and then kissed one at a concert in Washington. I'm still reserving the right to be bitter about her, but then again, I post all sorts of shit I don't like, so why not this, too?

Guess Who

Above is the audio for "Faith Won't Fail", a 2001 Christian pop song by Katy Hudson. Relevance? These days Katy Hudson is called Katy Perry and sings such songs as "I Kissed a Girl" and "Ur So Gay". Career change anyone?

I find it amusing that the lesbo stuff sells better than the Christian stuff. But I finally got around to listening to "Ur So Gay" and I'm a wee bit offended as hell. The tag line is "You're so gay and you don't even like boys". Based on the rest of the song she defines gay as fake, pretentious and pathetic. I suspect the next time I get around to going to the gay bar they'll play "I Kissed a Girl" a few times and I'll have to angrily wave my drink and try to be heard bitching over the music. I mean, the song is catchy, sure, but am I the only one who finds it a little offensive?

For the sake of comparison between the two Katys, here's her #1 song again. Meh.

She Kissed a Girl

So Katy Perry actually did kiss a girl. For a crowd's viewing pleasure, of course.

The "I Kissed a Girl" singer was partying at Villa in Los Angeles Saturday when the deejay spotted her and blasted the hit for the crowd. Perry, in a funky unitard, stood up on the banquette, leaned down and planted a lingering kiss on the mouth of a girlfriend in front of everyone.

Maybe she'll be the next Tila Tequila and save all the gays of the world.
