Cyndi Lauper Housing LGBT Youth
Cyndi Lauper is getting ready for the opening of New York's True Colors Residence in Harlem, a "permanent, supportive housing facility for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth." Lauper has done a great deal of work for support and awareness of LGBT issues, including the "I Give a Damn" Campaign. A sample of her message regarding True Colors Residence:

The brand new facility is aimed at helping LGBT youth aged 18-24 by providing a safe space, some community support and rent that varies by income. It's scheduled to open September 1.

Sean Avery (who is a forward for the Rangers for those who know as little about sports as I do) made this video clip in support of equal marriage rights in New York. Avery is one of the few professional athletes out there who has openly supported equal marriage rights, and consequently is now my favorite hockey player.

New York Jumping on the Pride Float ... er ... Bandwagon.
Gov. David A. Paterson has introduced legislation to legally recognize same sex marriage in New York. So the USA may be a little bhind as a whole, but parts of it are getting better and better all the time. Even Iowa is getting close to giving human beings human rights. But I'd still rather go to New York.
