Oprah Interviews Michael Sam

I have no doubt in my mind the NFL was not ready for Michael Sam.  If he never came out before he was drafted I guarantee he would still be playing professional football today.  It took a lot of strength for him to give up his dream and he sits down with Oprah to talk about his experiences.  The show is scheduled to air this coming Saturday.

Don't Label Raven Symoné

Raven Symone told Oprah that she hates labels.  Whether someone is calling her gay or African American, she says firstly she is a person.  Oprah warns her that she is going to blow up twitter but I think she has it right.  Let's stop labelling people based on preconceived notions and accept that anything can be fluid.

Oprah Supports Gay Marriage

Oprah thinks that gay marriage may actually help the institute of marriage.  She was part of a panel discussion that was looking at the cultural impact of marriage equality and I'm happy to see she is in full support.  Housewives everywhere just had their minds blown.
It's going to be enriched. I've never had a straight couple come to me and say, 'My marriage is in trouble because of a gay couple living next door.'

Neil Patrick Harris and Oprah

Oprah interviewed Neil Patrick Harris and fiance David Burtka, she went to their Los Angeles home and talked about parenting their 18 month-old children Harper and Gideon. I think it's awesome to give attention to celebrity gay parents and give the message that they have the same joy and tribulations as hetero couples.

Rosie O'Donnell Guest on Happily Divorced

It's been less than a month since Rosie O'Donnell was canned from the Oprah Winfrey Network and she has already lined up a new gig. She is going to be guest starring on Fran Drescher's new show called Happily Divorced. They make a good pair because I can't stand either of them. I'm sensing another cancellation in the near future.....

Rosie Has Anger Issues

The Queen of Nice turns out to be a very angry person. She recently had a interview with O Magazine because the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) is surprisingly giving her her own show. She blames most of her previous rage on not having enough estrogen. That's weird. Obviously, she had an uphill battle coming out and getting divorced from wife Kelly Carpenter but hey, let's just blame it on a hormone imbalance...makes total sense. Thank god for Ellen, just saying.

Oprah Asks How to Use Gay

Oprah won't let you forget this is her last season and her staff have to keep a watchful eye on her. Oprah had author Terry McMillan and her gay ex-husband Jonathan Plummer on to discuss how their relationship was after divorce. Oprah told Jonathan that he seemed gayer now, a comment that she was surprised caused a potential problem. Seriously Oprah. You wouldn't be too happy if someone told you that you seemed blacker. Sigh.

Rosie Defends Oprah

Rosie O’Donnell spoke about Oprah Winfrey and her best friend Gayle King being gay, saying that she believed Winfrey’s statement to Barbara Walters that she's not a lesbian. She suggested that the rumors about Winfrey and King stem from a lack of understanding about the nature of close female relationships. I think her statement is true but I also don't think it's not a coincidence that Rosie is getting a new show on the Oprah network. Just saying.
People don't really understand or don't have the privilege of seeing a friendship between two women that is that deep. I have the same best friend that I've had since I was 3. I know the intensity of that relationship and what it feels like -- to have someone you can depend on no matter what. So, I get it. And I don't think she was defending it as much as just answering all the speculation. She didn't seem defensive to me. If anything, it's just insulting to her integrity that people would consider that she was lying.

Oprah Talks About Being a Lesbian

Oprah Winfrey tells Barbara Walters in a new sappy interview why the constant rumors about her being in a lesbian relationship with her best friend, Gayle King, irritates her. Seriously, why is she getting so upset? Laugh if off, because right now she sounds like she isn't alright with being gay. She should show acceptance and that it's fine if people call you gay. It's not an insult.
Well, I have said we are not gay enough times. I’m not lesbian. I’m not even kind of lesbian. And the reason why it irritates me is because it means somebody must think I’m lying. That’s number one. Number two, why would you want to hide it? That is not

Ricky Came Out for Children

Ricky Martin revealed to the world last March that he was gay. This past Tuesday on Oprah, he discussed all about his experience revealing his sexuality to the world. He spoke about how he sent an e-mail out saying that he was proud to say that he was a fortunate homosexual man, after which he felt numb and then finally relieved. This quote is on his coming out experience:
When I realized, okay, I just pressed send, whoo … I was alone. I was in my studio alone for a minute. My assistant walked in and I just started crying like a little baby. I started crying. I couldn't take it anymore. It was too painful. But I guess the most important thing is my children … When I was holding them in my arms I was like, 'What, am I gonna teach them how to lie?' Whoa, that is my blessing right there. Then, when I was holding my children I said, 'Okay, it's time to tell the world.'
