Jodie Foster Funding Alien Search

Jodie Foster has donated money to Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) who needed to raise $200,000 to continue to run the Allen Telescope Array (ATA) of 42 radio telescopes in northern California, which is used to search for signs of intelligent life in the universe.

Foster played Ellie Arroway, a SETI scientist, in the movie Contact, and included a note:

I’m a SETIStar because, just like Ellie Arroway, the ATA is ‘good to go’ and we need to return it to the task of searching newly discovered planetary worlds for signs of extraterrestrial intelligence. In Carl Sagan’s book/movie Contact a radio signal from a distant star system ends humanity’s cosmic isolation and changes our world. The Allen Telescope Array could turn science fiction into science fact, but only if it is actively searching the skies. I support the effort to bring the array out of hibernation.

I always feel it's a bit strange when an actor attaches themselves to a cause based on having played it on TV. It seems legitimate enough - even basic research for a role would be enough to peak interest in a cause for a lot of people - but I always think it seems a bit cheesy to identify with something because you pretended to be that thing once in exchange for money. But I can't argue if it's a good cause. Is hunting aliens a good cause?

Jodie Responds to Charges

The 17 year old kid that says Jodie Foster assaulted him sounds like a complete idiot. He's saying he was going out with his girlfriend, saw Jodie and ran up to take her picture because he was such a huge fan. She then 'poked' him in the chest and asked if a slime ball like him has a mother. Here's Jodie's version according to her rep:

He had a large camera bag and 100mm telephoto lens. He tailed Jodie and followed her all the way from the move theater to the valet. He crowded her and her two young children and took photos of them the whole time,adding that the actress then asked him to stop.

Jodie Foster is being accused of battery by a 17 year old boy after they got into an altercation in LA. Can you say cash grab? I don't doubt they got into an argument but I find it hard to believe she hit the kid. Although if she was wearing this top when it was happening, the 17 year old turned into a 25 year old woman and it was raining....than yeah I can totally see it.

Another Woman for Jodie?

Producer and screen writer Cynthia Mort is rumored to be the reason for the end of Jodie Foster and Cydney Bernard's 14 year relationship. The National Enquirer who was the first to report the break up now claims that Jodie and Cynthia (who they called Cindy - great reporting!) who met on the set of The Brave One have been having an affair for over a year.

Once again, not really expecting any confirmation from Jodie Foster, the queen of secrecy, but with children involved, there are bound to be a few more rumors flying around.

Such sad news to start out with! Rumor has it that Jodie Foster and her partner of 14 years, Cydney Bernard, have decided to go their separate ways.

Jodie Foster is notorious for avoiding letting the media in on her personal life, so I'm doubtful we'll get a confirmation on this any time soon. But they do have two young children together, so perhaps we'll see more news on this yet.
