Gay NFL Players Coming Out?

Brendon Ayanbadejo is no longer with the Baltimore Ravens and rumours are flying that it is because of his open support of the gay community.  He denies it but I would not be surprised if he's just saying that to avoid not being picked up by another team.  That being said he is still predicting that at least one gay player will come out soon in the NFL.
I think it an openly gay player will happen sooner than you think,. We’re in talks with a handful of players who are considering it. There are up to four players being talked to right now and they’re trying to be organized so they can come out on the same day together. It would make a major splash and take the pressure off one guy. It would be a monumental day if a handful or a few guys come out. Of course, there would be backlash. If they could share the backlash, it would be more positive. It’s cool. It’s exciting. We’re in talks with a few guys who are considering it. The NFL and organizations are already being proactive and open if a player does it and if something negative happens. We’ll see what happens.

Brendon Ayanbadejo's Theory on Gays in the NFL

Brendon Avanbadejo is a linebacker for the Baltimore Ravens in the NFL.  Please don't ask me to explain what that position does or if the team is any good.  Anyways, this guy has his own theory on gay guys in the NFL.  It's causing quite the stir and I am torn because he is a supporter of the NOH8 campaign but these comments don't really induce happy thoughts.  Although, maybe he's right....football guys are kinda crazy!
Now, if there’s a negative thing about NFL players, we tend to be angrier (than non-players). We clearly have higher testosterone because you have to genetically to play this game. With that comes bipolar (disorder), split personality and certain negative things. That’s not everybody, but I think the rate is higher than the general population.I believe that there are not as many gay people in the NFL as in the regular population… Even though there is not yet a proven gay gene, I believe people are born gay. It is a natural phenomenon. Some people say the gay guys in the NFL aren’t coming out because they’re scared and worried about what’s going to happen to their careers. But I think the first person who comes out and says they are gay, everyone is going to write a book and do stories about them. They’re going to make a lot more money by saying they’re gay than by not saying they’re gay. But are we ready to hear that? Is that person going to be comfortable to do that? I don’t think they are right now because of society and the way things are. Eventually, I think there will be someone. But the number of gay players is so minute. If they say the regular population is 7 to 9 percent, in the NFL it might be 3 percent. I could be completely wrong, but I’ve played for so long and so many others have. When you hear players coming out that are retired, they are few and far between. Why wouldn’t we hear about more players if it’s the same percentage like in the regular population?

Brendon Ayanbadejo Says Yes to Marriage Equality in Maryland

As Maryland gets ready for the final vote on the marriage equality bill this week, Baltimore Ravens linebacker Brendon Ayanbadejo has released a video voicing his support for equality. Just in case you didn't know, the Baltimore Ravens are a NFL football team. Please don't ask me to clarify on the linebacker thing. Let's just agree the guy is a big deal and be happy he supports gay marriage.
