Cyndi Lauper Housing LGBT Youth

Cyndi Lauper is getting ready for the opening of New York's True Colors Residence in Harlem, a "permanent, supportive housing facility for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth." The brand new facility is aimed at helping LGBT youth aged 18-24 by providing a safe space, some community support and rent that varies by income. It's scheduled to open September 1.

“Kids are coming out in greater numbers as they see themselves accepted and represented on TV and in movies, but they’re still being kicked out of their homes or running away and living on the streets,"
