Vaccines Turn Kids Gay

Just when you thought people couldn't get any crazier something like this pops up.  Let's begin by discussing who is saying vaccines turn kids gay.  The name of the group is Vactruth and it started back in 2009 by a guy who believes his son stopped developing because he was over vaccinated.  Of course there had to be something to blame because his offspring should obviously be perfect (gag).  His latest argument against vaccines is that it will likely turn your child gay:
Do you think vaccinating a child with vaccines, that are made up of endocrine disrupting chemicals, can affect the outcome of a person’s sexuality? Homosexuality is found in nature in other species and has occurred in populations long before the advent of vaccines. Some believe vaccines affect sexuality and some don’t. It is known that vaccines do disrupt hormonal function and can cause fertility and thyroid problems, so this is a legitimate question some people want to learn more about.

9 Year Old Girl Writes To Gay Teacher

After reading this, tell me that children don't learn hatred.  A teacher came out during a class on homophobia and his 9 year old student wrote him this letter:
Dear Mr R,
Even though you’re gay, I will always treat you the same way as I do now. I still think about you the same way as I used to. You’re a great teacher and these are just some of the word’s (sic) that I would describe you as: great, amazing, fantastic, brilliant, awesome and brave.
The reason why I say brave is because you shared a personal secret which was very brave.
You don’t have to feel scared because I know that everone in the class feels the same way as I do.

From A x x
PS. We are all proud of you

Don't Label Raven Symoné

Raven Symone told Oprah that she hates labels.  Whether someone is calling her gay or African American, she says firstly she is a person.  Oprah warns her that she is going to blow up twitter but I think she has it right.  Let's stop labelling people based on preconceived notions and accept that anything can be fluid.

Miranda Lambert Supports Being Yourself

Miranda Lambert is super pleased with country music stations playing her latest single, 'All Kinds of Kinds'.  Considering the content it is still very popular.
Yeah, it’s pretty crazy that country radio embraced cross-dressing and played it on the radio. It’s fricking awesome, actually. I think it’s really cool that that song was able to be a single. I love that song — it really came at a good time in my life. I had to just sort of come to this realization that it was all about being who you are, no matter what you are about, where you come from, what color you are, or if you’re gay or straight, or whatever it is. I was just getting to that point in my life where I was starting to accept people for who they are, and myself.

Adorable First Kiss

)
This video is making its way around Facebook and I have to say it is pretty cute.  It films 20 strangers and their first kiss.  Everyone is represented and I think that is what makes me really happy, straight, gay, older and younger.

Matthew Morrison Doesn't Care

Matthew Morrison has dealt with rumours about his sexuality for years and starring on Glee hasn't helped stop them.  I like his response to people assuming he is gay:

I know my own truth. I'm in a great relationship with a woman. Maybe before it used to bother me. Then I was like, ‘This is so stupid that this bothers me. Some of my best friends in the world are gay, and if this is bothering me, then that means I have an issue with that.’ Once I figured that out for myself, I thought, ‘I don't care what anyone thinks about me.’ That's why I think I've become an ally for the gay and lesbian community. I just got [an Ally for Equality Award] the other day in Atlanta. I've very proud of my role in the community. So say what you will

Sigourney Loves Gay Geeks

On Thursday night, the LGBT sci-fi group Geeks OUT held its annual benefit art show, this time honoring actress and ally Sigourney Weaver.  She could not attend the event but this was her awesome message:
Dear friends and fellow geeks at Geeks OUT,I send you greetings from Broadway where I am performing in a new comedy by Christopher Durang. I am extremely touched and thrilled to be honored by Geeks OUT as a queer geek icon and muse. It means so much to me that my work has been relevant and encouraging to the LGBT community. I support each and every one of you to be exactly and gloriously who you are and all you can be. The planet needs your individuality and talent and power to make it a more humane and respectful and fantastic place, where everyone is valued and celebrated equally. So rock on and geek out, my friends. Have a wonderful time tonight. Thank you again for this awesome honor, thanks for very much to Jono Jarrett for getting in touch and going forward, and please come see us geeks on Broadway!

What makes a gay soldier different from a straight soldier?

Yesterday was Veterans Day in the United States and Remembrance Day in Canada.  I hope everyone took the time to reflect on the vets who sacrificed so much so we can enjoy the rights and freedoms we have today.  That being said, the United States still needs to acknowledge that their soldiers are equal regardless if they are gay or straight and this video highlights just that.

Pattinson on If Edward Were Gay

Robert Pattinon and Taylor Lautner were on Ellen to discuss the upcoming sixth and final Twilight Movie. Pattinson said that to continue the series, he'd like to see an alien invasion or some other dramatic twist — like Edward turning gay.  Hmmm, could there be some residual anger towards cheating Kristin Stewart? I Also think I heard millions of tween girls hearts break.

Cher and Kathy Griffin are asking all women and gays to get off their asses and vote.  They call out Mitt Romney, Paul Ryan and their Republican affiliates for their disgusting attacks on women and frightening attempts to redefine women’s rights.  Not to mention how they view and discriminate against gay people.  On November 6th, if you can vote, do it!!!

Jessica Simpson's Dad Gay?

I'm not sure if this one is true yet but Jessica Simpson’s dad, Joe Simpson, has been said to have come out of the closet, prompting his wife Tina to file for divorce after 34 years of marriage.  That's kinda crazy and according to the gossip mill, Jessica is fine with it.

First Openly Gay Boxer

Orlando Cruz was a former Olympian and ranked fourth in the featherweight category in the World Boxing Federation.  He is now the first openly gay man in the professional boxing world.  Emile Griffith came out as bi-sexual in 2005 but his career had been over since 1977.  Go ahead, call this guy names....I dare you.

I’ve been fighting for more than 24 years and as I continue my ascendant career, I want to be true to myself. I want to try to be the best role model I can be for kids who might look into boxing as a sport and a professional career.  I have and will always be a proud Puerto Rican.  I have always been and always will be a proud gay man.

Honey Boo Boo Child - Everyone's a Little Gay Auto-Tune

ParaNorman Has Gay Character

I wanted to see this movie as soon as I saw the first commercial but I had no idea it had a gay character. The jock, Mitch (voiced by Casey Affleck) is revealed to be gay in the final minutes. When asked out by a girl, he replies: “Sure. You’re gonna love my boyfriend. He’s like a total chick-flick nut”. So cute.

Jason Alexander's Gay Statement

Jason Alexander went on The Late Show with Craig Ferguson and made a stupid statement without really thinking. He said that cricket was gay compared to American Baseball. It was a minor slip of the tongue on a very bad television show but GLAAD noticed and wasn't happy. Jason took this to heart and wrote this apology via twitter, if you make it through the whole thing I applaud you. I don't think he could have drawn it out any further. I'm glad he is sorry but he could have saved us the novel.Jason

A message of amends.
Last week, I made an appearance on the Craig Ferguson show—a wonderfully unstructured, truly spontaneous conversation show. No matter what anecdotes I think will be discussed, I have yet to find that Craig and I ever touch those subjects. Rather we head off onto one unplanned, loony topic after another. It’s great fun trying to keep up with him and I enjoy Craig immensely.During the last appearance, we somehow wandered onto the topic of offbeat sports and he suddenly mentioned something about soccer and cricket. Now, I am not a stand-up comic. Stand up comics have volumes of time-tested material for every and all occasions. I, unfortunately, do not. However, I’ve done a far amount of public speaking and emceeing over the years so I do have a scattered bit, here and there.Years ago, I was hosting comics in a touring show in Australia and one of the bits I did was talking about their sports versus American sports. I joked about how their rugby football made our football pale by comparison because it is a brutal, no holds barred sport played virtually without any pads, helmets or protection. And then I followed that with a bit about how, by comparison, their other big sport of cricket seemed so delicate and I used the phrase, “ a bit gay”. Well, it was all a laugh in Australia where it was seen as a joke about how little I understood cricket, which in fact is a very, very athletic sport. The routine was received well but, seeing as their isn’t much talk of cricket here in America, it hasn’t come up in years.Until last week. When Craig mentioned cricket I thought, “oh, goody – I have a comic bit about cricket I can do. Won’t that be entertaining?”. And so I did a chunk of this old routine and again referred to cricket as kind of “gay” – talking about the all white uniforms that never seem to get soiled; the break they take for tea time with a formal tea cart rolled onto the field, etc. I also did an exaggerated demonstration of the rather unusual way they pitch the cricket ball which is very dance-like with a rather unusual and exaggerated arm gesture. Again, the routine seemed to play very well and I thought it had been a good appearance.Shortly after that however, a few of my Twitter followers made me aware that they were both gay and offended by the joke. And truthfully, I could not understand why. I do know that humor always points to the peccadillos or absurdities or glaring generalities of some kind of group or another – short, fat, bald, blonde, ethnic, smart, dumb, rich, poor, etc. It is hard to tell any kind of joke that couldn’t be seen as offensive to someone. But I truly did not understand why a gay person would be particularly offended by this routine. However, troubled by the reaction of some, I asked a few of my gay friends about it. And at first, even they couldn’t quite find the offense in the bit. But as we explored it, we began to realize what was implied under the humor. I was basing my use of the word “gay” on the silly generalization that real men don’t do gentile, refined things and that my portrayal of the cricket pitch was pointedly effeminate , thereby suggesting that effeminate and gay were synonymous. But what we really got down to is quite serious. It is not that we can’t laugh at and with each other. It is not a question of oversensitivity. The problem is that today, as I write this, young men and women whose behaviors, choices or attitudes are not deemed “man enough” or “normal” are being subjected to all kinds of abuse from verbal to physical to societal. They are being demeaned and threatened because they don’t fit the group’s idea of what a “real man” or a “real woman” are supposed to look like, act like and feel like. For these people, my building a joke upon the premise I did added to the pejorative stereotype that they are forced to deal with everyday. It is at the very heart of this whole ugly world of bullying that has been getting rightful and overdue attention in the media. And with my well-intentioned comedy bit, I played right into those hurtful assumptions and diminishments. And the worst part is – I should know better. My daily life is filled with gay men and women, both socially and professionally. I am profoundly aware of the challenges these friends of mine face and I have openly advocated on their behalf. Plus, in my own small way, I have lived some of their experience. Growing up in the ‘70’s in a town that revered it’s school sports and athletes, I was quite the outsider listening to my musical theater albums, studying voice and dance and spending all my free time on the stage. Many of the same taunts and jeers and attitudes leveled at young gay men and women were thrown at me and on occasion I too was met with violence or the threat of violence. So one might think that all these years later I might be able to intuit that my little cricket routine could make some person who has already been made to feel alien and outcast feel even worse or add to the conditions that create their alienation. But in this instance, I did not make the connection. I didn’t get it.So, I would like to say – I now get it. And to the extent that these jokes made anyone feel even more isolated or misunderstood or just plain hurt – please know that was not my intention, at all or ever. I hope we will someday live in a society where we are so accepting of each other that we can all laugh at jokes like these and know that there is no malice or diminishment intended. But we are not there yet.So, I can only apologize and I do. In comedy, timing is everything. And when a group of people are still fighting so hard for understanding, acceptance, dignity and essential rights – the time for some kinds of laughs has not yet come. I hope my realization brings some comfort.
Thanks,Jason

Is Bruno Mars Gay?

A rumor has spread like wild fire that Bruno Mars has come out of the closet. Apparently there was a video released online on April 1st, but his management took if off right away. I find it very hard to believe but I can always keep my fingers crossed. This is what he allegedly said after he came out:
The timing is bad. I hadn’t realized it was April Fool’s Day, but it’s been pointed out to me, and I don’t want to go too public with this.
