Canucks Welcomes Trans Goalie on Ice
I love hockey and this story makes me very happy. The Vancouver Canucks have openly been supportive of the gay community and they continued this recently by inviting a sixteen year old transgender goalie to take the ice with goaltender Cory Schneider at the January 23 game against the Calgary Flames. Cory Oskam is a tenth grader transgender male who has been on hormone blockers since the age of nine and last week was invited onto the ice alongside the professional goalie as part of Minor Hockey Week at Vancouver's Rogers Arena. What an amazing and positive experience.
