Obama makes history and appointed Amanda Simpson, a trans woman, as a senior technical advisor to the Department of Commerce. She was quoted as saying, "being the first sucks" and honestly I don't blame her. The worst thing is to be defined by gender and not by the merit that brought her to the position. Congrats and all the luck!
