This may be the strangest concept for a videogame I've seen yet. Stranger than Katamari Damacy. An online flash game called Stonewall Brawl is set to be released June 22 to coincide with Pride. Gay Gamer says:
The game is called Stonewall Brawl and is based on the historical Stonewall Riots that gave birth to the Gay Rights movement. The gameplay hearkens back to the old side scrolling brawlers like Streets of Rage and Ninja Gaiden (early titles for the game included "Streets of Drag" and "Ninja Gayden").
Orner and Laird hope that the launch of the game will educate younger LGBT folks on the events that led to the whole reason we are able to celebrate Gay Pride today. The game is set to launch on June 22nd on Metaversal Studios' Burning Village website.
I hate videogames, but maybe I'll try this one out just because it's so gay. Mind you I had no idea that there was a whole gay gaming section of our population (gaygamer.net? who knew?) so maybe I should just leave this to the folks who actually care about fighting games rather than those of us/me who care more about politics and fashion. And by the way, apparently gaygamer.net is "for boys who like boys who like joysticks," so sorry to our lesbian gamer friends, but you're not included.
