Chely Wright Sales Bomb

Chely Wright came out last May and says the reaction among her fan base at the time was really bad. Some of the idiots even sent her hate mail and a lot of people stopped buying her records. She thinks the perception among the gay community that coming out helped her career in any way is ridiculous. I seem to remember the same thing happening to Ellen not so long ago. It's sad but country fans generally aren't the most accepting folks out there. I hope she bounces back but I'm thinking she may have to switch genres.

She's thinking a little too highly of herself and latching onto someone who is actually famous. She says that an unknowing Brad was a victim of her sexuality secret, whatever the hell that means. He was supposedly talking about forever and getting married but she just couldn't get over the whole lesbian thing. I don't know about anyone else but the word pathetic keeps coming to mind.

The thirty nine year old singer had a number one hit country song back in 1999 with "Single White Female". She was also named Academy of Country Music new artist of the year. Wright is the first major country artist ever to come out. This is a big deal in the country world. Chely is taking a huge chance on her career because the country world is not exactly liberal. Everyone can remember the whole Dixie Chicks fiasco.
