Facebook Adds Family Options

Facebook has come a long way.  Earlier this year thy added 50 options for people to self identify including androgynous, intersex and transsexual.  Now they are rolling out gender neutral family options.  One step at a time it gets better.

Facebook Adds Gay Messenger Stickers

Facebook says it is celebrating Pride by adding free gay Mesenger stickers to the sticker store. Included are: two brides holding a cat, a football player and his boyfriend, a leatherman and his Chihuahua, a disco bunny, an AIDS/Life Cycle rider, and lots of different types of families.  This is pretty cute.

Clayton Morris Actually Apologizes

Rarely do tv personalities apologize unless there is huge pressure from the public.  Clayton Morris from Fox News is actually the exception for once.  He made an ignorant comment about changing his gender on Facebook to intersex and without public outcry he apologizes later on.  I'm impressed because it is a small step forward and hopefully these comments won't be made in the future so apologies won't be called for.

Facebook Bans Users Over Picture

Facebook is not new to being accused of being anti-gay and their latest move does not help the matter. Have A Gay Day is a group on Facebook and they posted this picture of two men kissing.  As a result over 106 users were banned from the site.  Facebook tried to save face (no pun intended) by saying the company was just responding to people who reported the picture as offensive.  Facebook is notorious for banning gay material and their responses are cop outs.  I would just like to point out Queer Gossip isn't allowed to advertise on Facebook because we were also deemed offensive.

Robin Roberts Comes Out

Robin Roberts is an anchor on Good Morning America and made news earlier this year when she told the world she had cancer.  Now to end the year she drops another huge bomb to the world and comes out. On Sunday she posted this on Facebook:
I am grateful for my entire family, my long time girlfriend, Amber, and friends as we prepare to celebrate a glorious new year together. I am grateful for the many prayers and well wishes for my recovery. I return every one of them to you 100 fold.

Anchor Calls Maddow Angry Little Man

This plastic barbie looking anchor from Ohio called lesbian anchor Rachel Maddow "such an angry young man" on her Facebook page last month.  Her name is Tricia Macke and she was pressured by the public to apologize for her ignorant comment.  Of course she did not want to risk any backlash so she wrote. "You are write. I am sorry. I should have said antagonistic." That's her excuse for being a bitch? Nice try.

Oreo is So Gay

Oreo posted this on their website in support of gay pride and you cant imagine how one cookie can cause such controversy. Bigots have posted their awful opinions to Facebook demanding people boycott Oreo. On a happy note that just makes the gay cookie get more publicity. Thank you Oreo!

Israel's Military Queer Friendly

I am blown away by this picture. Two men holding hands in the Israel Military and it was proudly placed on the official Facebook page. It was posted for pride month to show that they treat everyone equal and to top it all off gays and lesbians have been allowed to serve openly since 1993. There are some rumours that the Israel military posted it to cause a controversy to overshadow the ongoing conflict with Palestine. I really don't care because this is fantastic (minus the whole war thing).

Ricky Martin Drags Us To Hell

Wing nut Puerto Rican pastor Wanda Rolón is telling people to avoid Ricky Martin concerts, warning that the singer would drag us all to hell. She's been attacking him on Facebook and now has been given a press conference. She organized a anti-homosexuality protest in Choliseo to try and convince Ricky Martin's fans arriving for a concert to save themselves. According to Wanda Rolón and her ignorant followers, the whole island will join Satan in the afterlife, since four shows were completely sold out. Way to go Ricky! The best part is he didn't respond directly to the pastor but during his concert he said, Don't be afraid to live, Puerto Rico. Hell ya.
