NHL Star Fined For Homophobic Slur

Anaheim Ducks Captain Ryan Getzlaf has been fined $10,000 for yelling a homophobic slur at the ref during a recent game. He called the ref a fucking cocksucker and I'm glad he has been called out on it. A lot of posts are saying that he didn't mean it to be hateful, he just got lost in the moment of a big game. Well, big fella, would you say that around your kids? No, I think not. He is the captain of an NHL team and it suppose to be a role model.

Ellen Page Not Fucking Happy With Queen

Ellen Page said 'fuck that' to the Queen when she included a homophobic asshole on the New Year's Honour list.  The Queen awarded an MBE to Councillor Maurice Mills, the same douche who said  the spread of AIDS in Africa was to blame on gay people engaging in the filthy practice of sodomy.  He also blames Hurricane Katrina on New Orleans for hosting a Pride parade.  God's revenge for the world embracing those damn gays.  Good for her for saying what we all are thinking.

Pope Francis Demotes US Cardinal

Pope  Francis made headlines when he said, 'Who Am I to Judge?', when commenting on LGBT in the Catholic church.  He has now demoted US Cardinal Raymond Leo Burke, the United States highest ranking cardinal, for his anti-gay beliefs.  This is huge.  It also makes me a bit sad that it had to be the cardinal from the US because that sadly reflects on an ultra conservative sector that effects the law making in the country.  Hopefully, now Pope Francis' beliefs will kick start a change in everyone's mind set.

9 Year Old Girl Writes To Gay Teacher

After reading this, tell me that children don't learn hatred.  A teacher came out during a class on homophobia and his 9 year old student wrote him this letter:

Dear Mr R, 

Even though you’re gay, I will always treat you the same way as I do now. I still think about you the same way as I used to. You’re a great teacher and these are just some of the word’s (sic) that I would describe you as: great, amazing, fantastic, brilliant, awesome and brave.
The reason why I say brave is because you shared a personal secret which was very brave.
You don’t have to feel scared because I know that everone in the class feels the same way as I do.

Jillian Michaels Misunderstood

Jillian Michaels really upset some people with her comments about being 'normal':  

I don’t know that I am comfortable talking about being gay now, to be honest with you. The gay thing has always been hard for me. When Heidi and I are out and somebody older asks, ‘Are you sisters?’ I say, ‘We’re friends.’ I guess it comes from thinking that they will be shocked or disturbed. Look, I wish I had some strapping football player husband. It would be such a dream to be ‘normal’ like that, but I’m just not.

I truly think people are being way too hard on her.  She obviously struggles with being gay and she was just being open about that.  I don't think her honesty makes her homophobic.  Let's look at the bigger issue and see why society makes people feel this way.  She released her apology:

 I am deeply disheartened and sorry to hear that members of the gay community have misunderstood the points I was trying to make about being 'out.' I attempted to shed light on how hard and scary it can be to be out. That gay families get attacked and even small daily interactions involve others being 'shocked and disturbed' by the gay lifestyle. I was saying if along the way in my life that had been a choice I would have made it, but it's not who I am. Gay is not a choice. If I was ashamed of who I am, I would be in the closet. Considering my family was on the cover of People magazine, I think I'm pretty far from that.

Tyra Rips Apart Homophobic Comment

Tyra Banks schooled a contestant on America's Next Top Model.  Denzel told fellow openly gay competitor Will that he couldn't go home and have to tell his friends he lost to a man in heels.  Tyra called him on his homophobic comment and I don't think he'll be making that mistake again.  Big shout out to Will for rocking heels for the judges.

Eric Stonestreet Refuses Picture With Anti-Gay Senator

I love everything about straight ally Eric Stonestreet.  He attended the White House Correspondents Dinner this year and homophobic senator Rick Santorum asked him for a picture with him.  He told the senator he could not do it because he was against gay marriage.  He offered to take a picture with the kids but wouldn't budge on his values.  Well done Eric.

Antonio Banderas Says Homophobes Sick

Antonio Banderas was doing an interview in Peru and when asked about a previous role where he played a gay character, his response was great.  He commented on how he played a gay character and there was also a murder in the film.  The audience was fine with the latter but the gay part was out of hand.  This led to the below comment.

Those who judge gay couples in an intolerant way, they seem to me to be much more sick. Gay people, on the other hand, absolutely do not appear to me to be sick.

Heineken Boycotts Parade

Looks like Guinness is not the only sponsor pulling it's support over not allowing LGBT to March in the St. Patrick's Day Parade in New York City.  I truly love that these two huge beer companies support diversity and are standing up for the LGBT community.  They could have ignored the homophobia and reaped the rewards but instead they took a stand.  This was what they released as a response:

We believe in equality for all. We are no longer a sponsor of Monday's parade.

Anne Rice Takes on Ellen Page Haters

Anne Rice spoke out in support of Ellen Page coming out and will not tolerate hate on her fan page.  Anne's son is gay and she has been very supportive of gay rights.  She warns if anyone posts hate on her page they will be deleted.

I will no longer tolerate hate speech in the guise of Christian belief with the usual irresponsible pick and choose bible quotes and talk of “sin” and hellfire. I have had enough of it, and I think the world has had enough of it too. I commend Ellen Page for her bravery in coming out. I hope more celebrities and public figures will be inspired to do so. Anyone who thinks this does not matter is deceiving himself or herself. It matters very much. Gay people in all walks of life suffer from bigotry, bias, superstition, and ignorance.

Liam Payne Goes Wrong Direction

Maybe before Liam Payne opened his Twitter account he should have thought of the many gay fans that swarm his band One Direction.  His original Tweet to the homophobic William Robertson of Duck Dynasty stated: 

huge love to you/your family huge respect for your business prosperities and the family values you all still behold. big fan.  

Now you can imagine why this response to William's comments to GQ Magazine comparing gays to terrorists, raised a few eyebrows.  His Tweet has since been removed and this is his latest: 

Being a fan of someone's show and the way they still hold a family together doesn't mean I am ok with all they say.  

Um, so basically he is not sorry.
