Chris Engen Would Rather be Unemployed than Kiss a Guy


Chris Engen from The Young and the Restless quit his job in the middle of his contract to avoid having to kiss a man for his script. TV Guide reports:
A few days after The Nelson Ratings finally bought Chris Engen’s uneven portrayal of Adam Newman, the newcomer shocked the entire Y&R cast by quitting his role in the middle of his contract two days ago! According to sources, Engen bolted because, “he [allegedly] refused to kiss [his same-sex] co-star Yani Gellman [Rafe]. ... Chris is still under contract — and Y&R is seriously thinking of taking legal action.”
What an idiot. He has a regular, paying acting position and he leaves in the middle of a contract because of a kiss? I mean, really, if he ever does manage to land a role again after proving so unreliable, what if he's scripted to kiss an ugly woman? Will he blow that off, too? I had never heard of Engen before this. Hopefully we'll never have to hear about him again. But kudos to Y&R for being the fourth soap opera to include us queers in the mix. (The others, if you really need to watch a new soap opera are All My Children, As The World Turns and Guiding Light.
