Jersey Shore Does the Village Voice Queer Issue?

I've never watched Jersey Shore, so I have no idea why it would make sense to have them on the cover of the queer issue of the Village Voice. As far as I know, none of them are gay, none of them are particularly active in pro-gay politics, in fact I don't think I've ever heard the words "gay" and "Jersey Shore" together in the same sentence unless we're talking about something less than politically correct. So are they seriously just there because gay men like their abs? I feel like I'm missing something...
